But I question his sudden dash to Portugal at 5am on Tuesday 1 May, having been summoned by his girlfriend in Portugal the previous evening to come out 'urgently'.

When asked by a TV interviewer on I think 14 May whether he already knew Murat, Dr Gerald McCann said: "I am not going to comment on that". I take that as a 'Yes'.

The McCanns' friend Jane Tanner watched several people from a two-way glassed police van on the afternoon of 13 May and said she was SURE that Robert Murat was the person she claimed to have seen carrying away Madeleine 10 days earlier. Over the next two days, three more of the McCanns' friends piled in and said they were sure they'd seen Murat 'hanging round the Ocean Club' the night Madeleine went missing. I do not think they were telling the truth and neither did the Portuguese police.

These, plus his false sttaements about what he was actually doing between 1 and 4 May, are among many facts which make me wonder if Murat performed the role of 'Fall Guy'.

P.S. Did you know that at around 3pm on Wednesday 2 May, the 'phone records of Gerry McCann and Robert Murat showed that they both switched off their mobile 'phones within 6 minutes of each other? They then both switched them on again at around 11pm on Thursday 3 May, again within 6 minutes of each other - about one hour after Madeleine was reported missing.
