Common Purpose and much else besides: Dr John Savage
Tony Bennett Today at 10:27 pm
Introductory note: This post may have nothing whatsoever to do with the mystery of Joanna Yeates' murder; however, it does raise the question of why the contact address for 'Common Purpose' should be c/o Dr. John Savage.
He is obviously a very well connected man.

'Common Purpose' has been discussed on the Madeleine McCann section of this forum.
It's a secretive group that move in high circles.
FWIW, the 'big cheese' of Bristol Common Purpose is Dr John Savage.

High Sheriff to reveal his life and times at church talk
By jharding
Leading Bristol businessman Dr John Savage will be giving a talk about his life and work in Keynsham on September 1.
As a schoolboy in London Dr Savage thought he might be an Anglican priest when he grew up but his future lay in a different direction and today he is revered for his service to Bristol.
He spent 16 years in the food production industry before running his own international distribution company and a fleet of 60 lorries.
Later he became a managing director with the Associated Newspaper Group and since 1989 he has been the Chief Executive of The Bristol Initiative and, from February 1993, Chief Executive of theBristol Chamber of Commerce and Initiative, following the merger of the two bodies.
Assisted by a group of senior public and private sector leaders, he leads an organisation dedicated to promoting partnership between local government, industry and commerce in order to advance a vision of Bristol as a leading European city.
Most recently the Bristol, Gloucestershire and Bath Chambers of Commerce have merged with Business Link West to form Business West, under John Savage's leadership.
He is keen to advance educational standards in the city and he is chairman of the West of England Learning and Skills Council, the West of England Learning Consortium and of the Bristol 14 to 19 Education Campus among others.
As well as championing education, Dr Savage plays a key role in advancing the economic, charitable, and cultural life of Bristol.
He was awarded a CBE in the 2006 New Year's Honours List for serving business and to regeneration in the South West and was awarded an Honorary Degree by the University of the West of England in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the City of Bristol and to the West of England.
Dr Savage, now the High Sheriff of Bristol, has a strong Christian faith and will be speaking at Keynsham Baptist Church on September 1 at 7.30pm as part of their First Tuesday service.
Each month on the first Tuesday the church invites various speakers to talk about themselves and their work. There is also a small act of worship.
The event is open for anyone to attend whether they are of faith or of no faith. Reverend Mick Standbridge said: "All are welcome to come along and listen to what promises to be an inspirational talk from a man who has done so much in his life for the good of others."
